The Location
This years Asian Junior Chess Championship will be held in the beatiful resort hotel, Hotel Club Palm Bay, in the western coastel belt of the pearl of the Indian ocean - SRI LANKA.

General Regulations

1. Invitation

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (from now on CFSL) has the honour of inviting all Chess Federations in Zone 3.1 to 3.4 affiliated to FIDE to participate in the 25th Asian Junior Chess Championship 2002 (as approved by the President of Asian Continent in FIDE, Mr. Khalifa Mohammed AL-HITMI) at Hotel Club Palm Bay - Marawila, located in the Western coastal belt within 45 minutes from the Bandaranayake International Airport, of the pearl of the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka.

2. Participation

The number of participants from each federation is, as per FIDE Hand Book D.V.07.2 and as decided by the Continental President for Asia. Further, every country is eligible to send extra players by paying their food and lodging and other Costs prior to the start of the tournament. In order to ensure proper standards of the tournament all invited players and extra players must submit their registration through their national federations to reach the CFSL before the registration deadline (April 27, 2002).

3. Fide Fees

3.1 In accordance with FIDE regulations a 100 SF entry fee is required for each invited player. Their National Federation must send this amount directly to FIDE before the 27th of April 2002.

4. Registration and travel conditions

4.1 Entry forms must be filled and returned to the CFSL not later than April 27th, 2002 by fax, stamped by the Federation. This date is the registration deadline.
4.2 The complete registration form must include surname/s, first name/s, ID number, FIDE rating and title, passport number of each player and his her flight details. Also it must include the name and telephone /e-mail/fax number of the Delegation chief and of the person in charge in the Federation.
4.3 An identity photo (2x3 cm) must also be sent for the players, coaches and accompanying persons badge.
4.4 Players will not be paired until all their payments have been fulfilled.
4.5 CFSL will provide transport from/to Airport provided their details have been communicated in advance.

5. Lodging and meals

5.1 Accommodation and full board will be provided in the Hotel Club Palm Bay managed by LANKEM.
5.2 Free room and board will be provided to players mentioned in 2.) above from the 27th of June (Lunch) to the 6th of July (breakfast). Players will have to meet their cost of board and lodging if they arrive early or extend their stay.
5.3 Every participant accepted as extra player will be obliged to lodge at the Hotel Club Palm Bay.
5.4 Hotel payments for all extra players and accompanying persons must be made in advance to the account number given below. The CFSL will not accept any undertaking for payment of Hotel bills at a future date.
5.5 Very special rate for accommodation and meals for extra players and accompanying persons participating in the Asian Juniors will be:
Double Rooms (Sharing): 40 \$ USA per person (full board)
Single Rooms: 60 \$ USA per person (full board).
5.6 Payments in advance for accompanying persons and extra players should be transferred to the following account:

8. Rules and regulations

The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 11 rounds. National ratings will not be taken into consideration for the parings. Rate of play will be 1 ½ hours for all moves, plus 30 seconds increment from move one for each player using digital clocks.

9. Prize Money

A total of US \$ 5000 will be distributed among winners as prize money. First 3 places in each category will be given medals. All other participants will be issued with a certificate. Prize money will be shared in case of a tie.
